AWEX at Food Ingredients Vietnam – October 202227/01/2023

From 12 to 14 October 2022, the HCMC office of the Wallonia Export & Investment Agency (AWEX) participated for the first time in the Food Ingredients Vietnam exhibition (FiV) which took place at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC).

This was our first participation in this exhibition. We had a space of 24 m² on which we (re)presented 12 companies of which 3 were physically present. Thanks to the AWEX pavilion, Belgium was the third largest exhibiting country, just after Vietnam and China.

According to the organisers, Informa Markets, “Fi Vietnam is the only show dedicated to food and beverage ingredients in the region, offering industry professionals a gateway to the flourishing ingredients market in Vietnam and neighbouring countries (Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar)”.

Jean-Pierre Muller, head of the AWEX HCMC office adds: "The food sector is clearly one of the most sophisticated and fastest growing in Vietnam. Imported food ingredients and additives are therefore benefiting from this development both in quantity and quality. The prospects for our companies are enormous”.

The three companies physically present were: BellaVie specialist in macrobiotics, fibres and nutraceuticals supplements, Galactic producer of lactates and lactic acids and THT one of the leaders in Belgium in the sector of micro-organisms (probiotics and post-biotics).

For BellaVie and Galactic, who already have local distributors in Vietnam, the exhibition was an opportunity to meet existing customers and to approach new prospects. On the other hand, THT was present to evaluate the market potential and establish contacts with potential distributors.

In 2023, our office plans to organise a multi-sector trade mission to Vietnam in September. “The mission will be open to all companies”, says Muller, “but it will be the ideal moment for the companies who participated or were represented at Fi Vietnam to come (back) to Vietnam to follow-up on the leads generated at Fi Vietnam, given the very large potential market”.
